If anyone has ever wondered how to get moving water to look silky smooth all you have to do is slow your shutter down. Start experimenting more and take your camera off automatic. As I improve on my website/blog I will start giving out information on how to get more creative when it comes to photography. I am still fairly new to the art but as I grow and get better I hope to share what I learn with the people out there who are willing to step out of the box.

I took this shot in Upper Antelope Canyon just outside of Page AZ. There are two main slot canyons upper and lower Antelope canyon and both offer a special uniqueness. Lower Antelope canyon is narrow at the bottom and wider at the tops which allows for more light to enter casting different colors depending on the time of year. You take a guided tour or pay for the photographer package and spend 4 hours by yourself trying to capture the beauty of every curve. Upper Antelope canyon is wider at the bottom and narrow at the top which allows beams of light to enter the canyon at certain times of the day. Upper Antelope requires a guide and if you pay for the photographers package they will stop the tour and allow you to set up your equipment to capture the light beams. Here is a link of tours for Antelope Canyon.

I decided to post process this image combining three separate exposures in Photomatix using a technique called HDR (High Dynamic Range). I then used Nik Software to add a glowing effect.

I hope you enjoy.

Welcome my friends to the posts that never end! At least that is my goal. I’m extremely excited about my new blog even though it is still a work in progress. I’m still relativity new to WordPress and haven’t quite figured out how to get everything looking clean so please bear with me. As of right now I will be posting photos that I have taken over the last couple of years. What I enjoy most is venturing out off the beaten path and finding things that inspire me. I currently own a real estate appraisal business in Gilbert, AZ and take pictures in my spare time. I plan on sharing my experiences with everyone and as time goes on provide different techniques I have learned that might help inspire people who are looking to be creative in the art of photography. I shoot mainly landscapes and really enjoy HDR photography. I will talk about HDR photography in later posts. I love to post process my images using programs such as Photoshop, Nik Software, Photomatix, and Topaz Labs to name a few. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and please feel free to comment good or bad.

Here is a shot of a mountain range in Colorado. I saw the peaks from a distance and took a dirt road to this spot to capture one of my favorite pics. I used Nik software (Silver Efex 2) to convert the colored image to black and white.
